The Khair-Khawa-i-Kashmir, for example, an Urdu Magazine published from Lahore by Pt. Saligram Kaul and Pt. Hargopal Khasta were poisonous literature written to entice public opinion against Maharaja Ranbir Singh. Pt. Hargopal Kaul from Amritsar writing Ravi Benazir and Subaha Kashmir was for the same effect. Daur-uftaadagaan-i-Kashmir (period of fallen times in Kashmir) was a similar literature written by Kashmir Pandit elites from Lukhnow and Allahbad to accuse Maharaja Ranbir Singh of Misgovernence.
It was also during the times of Maharaja Ranbir Singh that Kashmiri Pandits took undue advantage of Dogras patronage towards them and openly indulged in Tax theft from the state. Pt. Raj Kak Dhar was the prime accused who owed the Dogra state 12 Lakh Rupess in those times in taxes but squeezed money out of his employees instead.
All these political upheavals, revolts, mass negative propaganda gave British excuse the send a British political officer over the Maharaja but the maharaja curtailed the said officer's administrative powers in exchange of losing his choice to make his favorite son Amar Singh his heir, instead his other son Maharaja Pratap Singh took over.
Maharaja Pratap Singh was too a visionary leader and worked for the upliftment of oppressed classes of Hindus. He abolished the "Begaari system", a known form a slavery employed by Land owning Kashmiri Pandits on Kashmiri Dalits to till their land, and asked them to pay respectable wages to tillers. This further angered the KPs and they further led socialist movements against the state and printing mass propaganda against the Dogra state, for example Akhbar-i-Aam by Gwash Lal Koul from Lahore in 1925 talking about state oppression and unemployment in Kashmir to further incite public opinion against the Dogra Rulers.

Sudama Sidha and Prem Nath Bazaz organized under "socialist progressive" banners and allied with Shiekh Abdullah's Muslim Conference (Later named National conference) to publicly agitate and incite public opinion against the Maharaja printing and distributing Anti-dogra State literature and Manifesto named "Naya Kashmir" demanding for removal of Monarchy and establishment of democracy.
The Kashmir Socialist Party started by Prem Nath Bazaz and Kanayalal Koul too allied with the Muslim conference of Sheikh Abdullah. This party was later named All J&K Kisaan Conference in 1945, and this decision was taken after a meeting in Achabal Garden in Potohar (present day Islamabad), and Abdul Salm Yutu was made it's president.
Sheikh Abdullah with Muslim Conference and it's KP allies then launched Quit Kashmir movement against the Maharaja in 1946 which was quashed by state forces.
Parallely, Nehru in the 40s, their "Karkun" KP cousin, was lobbying with the Mainlander KP officials to put Arms Embargo on the state of J&K, convincing the Brits to stop selling the Dogra state Arms and ammunition and succeeded, and hence in 1947, a Dogra Kingdom capable of invading deep into Tibet and Freeing Lord Shiva's abode Mt. Kailasha a mere 100 years ago, capitulated under mere force of a few hundred armed non regular Afghans supported by Pak military in thousands. Maharaja Hari Singh had brave and able Dogra Rajputs and guns but no bullets to fire. Hundreds of Dogras Rajputs perished fighting with swords and limited ammos to keep machine Gun armed Pak and Afghan forces at bay while Maharaja Hari Singh sent his PM, Meherchand Mahajan, to Nehru on 19th September 1947 to sign treaty of accession.
